What It Does

The Text Tool lets you type notes in moveable text boxes. For Full-page Typing, see The Full-page Typing Tool.

How to Use It

With the tool selected, you can do any of the following:

Create a text box

• Tap anywhere on the page and type or paste from the clipboard.

  <aside> ℹ️ If you create or paste a large amount of text, it won’t go past page boundaries and is hidden until moved into view. To avoid this, try to copy and paste text in smaller chunks, or resize the entire text box to make it fit the page.

Move a text box

• Tap on the text box, then drag it with your finger, or drag the middle-top Move handle with your Apple Pencil.

Copy a text box

• Tap on the text box and choose Copy.

<aside> 💡 You can then long-press on the page and choose Paste. To cut a text box, use the Lasso Tool.

Delete a text box

Do any of the following:

• Tap on the text box and choose Delete.
• Edit the text box and delete all its text.
