What It Does

One of the most flexible and powerful tools, the Lasso Tool allows you to select content created in GoodNotes and do all sorts of things on that content.

How to Use It

Select content

Once the content is selected, you can do any of the following:

Move the selection

You can tap on the selection to bring up a context menu, then choose any of the following:

Cut / Copy the selection

Delete the selection

Do any of the following:

Resize / Rotate the selection

Color the selection

Take a rectangular screenshot of the selection

  1. Choose Take Screenshot.
  2. Tap Share in the top-right corner of the popover and choose an action for the taken screenshot. For example, you can copy it and paste it later on the page, or save the screenshot to Photos.

Create an element from the selection

Convert the selected handwriting to typed text

  1. Choose Convert.
  2. Tap Share in the top-right corner of the popover and choose an action for the converted text. For example, you can copy it and paste it later on the page.

<aside> 💡 To re-convert the handwriting using another recognition language, tap the language name in the bottom-right corner of the popover, and choose the language from the list.

<aside> 💡 You can also drag selected handwriting to an external app, where it will be automatically converted to typed text if the receiving app supports it. This is useful for dragging tasks from your meeting notes into your to-do app, for example.
