GoodNotes comes with a wide variety of covers/templates that should meet the most common note-taking needs. If your work requires special or personalized templates, however, you can add them all to GoodNotes.

Every PDF or image file can be used as a custom cover or paper template.

Add custom templates

  1. Open GoodNotes menu.

  2. Choose Notebook Templates.

  3. Select the paper size and layout that match those of the covers/templates to be added. For example, if you’re adding an A4-sized template in portrait (i.e. vertical orientation), select “A4” from the first dropdown list and “Portrait” from the second:

  4. Choose the template type to be added:

  5. You will see several template groups in the lower section. To add your covers/templates to a specific group, scroll to the end of the list under that group and tap Import:

    <aside> 💡 You can create your own group by tapping + next to Edit in the top-right corner.

  6. Choose an import method:

Delete templates (including built-in)

  1. Choose Notebook Templates.
  2. Choose the template type to be deleted:
  3. Tap Edit in the upper right.
  4. Select the template(s) you want to delete.
  5. Tap the Trash icon in the upper left.

<aside> ℹ️ Deleted custom templates can’t be restored; you’ll need to add them back. Built-in templates can be restored from GoodNotes Settings.
