Overview
Text Documents are Goodnotes' typing‑focused format for structured writing with optional AI assistance. Use them for quick notes, meeting minutes, research papers, project documentation, and collaborative work with rich formatting and smooth organization.
Key advantages of Text Documents compared to regular full-page typed text:
- Flow pagelessly without page breaks
- Offer richer formatting including tables and media
- Enable real‑time collaboration and comments
- Include AI co‑editing for planning, rewriting, and polishing
Create a Text Document
- Choose New... from the Documents tab of the Library View.
- Select Text Doc.
- Start typing. Use blocks to structure content and the toolbar to format.
- Create a block: Type "/" and choose a block type.

Work with a block
Style a block or format its text
- Double-tap some text in the block.
- Do any of the following:

Choose Turn into, then **select another block type.

Choose the Format icon on the toolbar and choose an option:
- Style the block: Paragraph, Headings, Code, Quote
- Format the text: Bold, Italic, Underline, Strikethrough, Color.
- Change the list type: Bulleted, Numbered, Toggle, To-do.
- Insert a table

Add a table
- Tap the Table icon on the toolbar.
