By default, you can use the Pen Tool to do more than just write. With Pen Gestures, your Pen now easily becomes an Eraser and Lasso with automatic Pen Gestures. Here's how they both work!

Scribble to Erase

You can use the Pen Tool to erase your notes just like you how you might cross out mistakes with a pencil! All you have to do is scribble over the words or lines you want to erase and they magically disappear! It's a quick and easy way to clean up your notes and keep them looking neat and tidy.

  1. Write a word or sentence.
  2. If you notice something that you aren’t happy with, draw a tight zigzag over the strokes with your Pen Tool, or draw horizontal lines back and forth over the strokes.
  3. All strokes underneath the scribbled area will be erased.

<aside> 💡 Keep in mind that any strokes outside of your initial stroke may not be erased, including dots for letters like "i". You can either scribble over these extra strokes afterwards or ensure they are covered by your initial stroke as in the examples below.

The dot above the “i” won’t be erased.

Circle to Lasso

Instead of breaking your flow and switch to the Lasso Tool, you can use the Pen Tool to select and manipulate groups of notes with the Circle to Lasso Pen Gesture.

  1. Using the Pen Tool, draw a loop around the area you would like to select.
  2. Lift up your pen, then long press with your pen on the circle stroke you have made.
  3. You will notice your circle turn into a dotted line, indicating that you now have a Lasso selection.
  4. You can then:
