Backing up your Goodnotes library is always a good idea to protect your notes from unexpected issues. Additionally, it provides an easy way to transfer your library to a new installation on another device.

Create a library backup

  1. Open Goodnotes Menu.
  2. Choose Cloud & Backup > Manual Backup > Back Up Now
  3. Save the .zip file in a safe place by tapping Save to Files and choosing a destination on your iPad or share with another application or recipient in the share sheet.

Please make sure to keep the app visible in the foreground until the backup finishes to avoid restarting the process.

Restore your data from the backup

You can use your manual backup at any time to restore your data. This process is just like importing a document normally, however this time, you will be importing the .zip file you created when you backed up. See Import documents.
