GoodNotes not only helps you capture good notes; it can actually assist you with learning from them through the use of study sets!

A study set is essentially a specialized GoodNotes document consisting of one or more flashcards, which, like their physical versions, are cards containing words, images, or other information on one or both sides, used for learning or memorizing information.

The app offers both Practice Mode and Smart Learning Mode for different learning needs. Practice Mode allows you to review all flashcards in one go, either in sequential or random order, which is useful for last-minute cramming sessions. Smart Learn Mode uses a scientifically proven technique called spaced repetition to predict when you're likely to forget a card and bring it up in your next session.

From a flashcard notebook

Since Study Sets is a vastly improved version of the Flashcards (experimental) feature, you’re recommended to make the switch for a more efficient learning experience. Until a mass migration tool is available, you can convert a flashcard notebook to a study set:

  1. Open the notebook.
  2. Open the More menu (...) in the top-right corner > Convert Flashcards to Study Set. Once successful, the new study set will be automatically opened.
